Default C/F Wind Deflector, Yes or No and who would make it?

i was wondering if anyone could make an OEM carbon fiber wind deflector for the sunroof of the tC .. my glass one smashed on the highway .. i got the ins. money and used it to have a shop make somethin outta plexi-glass .. problem was, plexi is too flexible and caused problems cuz the adhesive wouldnt keep it down. I decided to screw it down .. which lead to pressure in the center and made it crack .. i was wonderin if anyone could fabricate something out of carbon fiber (1/8th inch thick and same dimensions as the OEM one with the curve) and if that would even be cost effective. Also, other materials could be used to, any comments on Lexan or Polycarbonate being used (im trying to get a material that wont shatter when a rock hits it) .. i also have a carbon fiber hood and front lip, so the wind deflector would match if it was C/F .. thanks for yer help

Talk to raamaudio here on the forums. I think that's how you spell his username. He had a full CF roof made I think... he could suggest someone to talk to maybe?? Don't know.

true, RAAM had Kaminari make a full cF roof for the tC.... but it was expensive and Doug (dagger) is looking for only the front. They might be able to help, but prob going to cost some $$$ since it will be custom.

Why did you replace it with plexiglass instead of the OEM glass piece?

i had the recall fix done .. and it shattered soon after (kept together cuz of the fix) .. i wanted to get somethin that wasnt going to shatter again on the highway .. because i want to have the sunroof open while driving on the highway .. i know it would be easy to get another piece of glass .. somethin i still may end up doing .. (also posted that i was lookin for a replacement part from a junkyard)

Gotcha. Do you think the shop you went to could make a fiberglass deflector and then wrap it in carbon? Might be easier than getting a full C/F piece made.

i think that would work fine .. prolly easier .. just a question of making it thin enough .. obviously it would cost much more to have a straight carbon fiber piece .. fiberglass wrapped in c/f would be optimal ..

racingsolution.com referred me to importtrenz.com and said they could make me somethin like that .. and asked if there could be a market for somethin like that .. is there anyone interested? would match yer hood/lip if ya have one .. and would break up the appearance .. and of course .. not shatter on the highway if a rock hit it .. remains to be seen if it can be made ..

I wouldnt want carbon fiber. I would want it color matched to my car. Now that would look sharp!.

I would like it have a carbon fiber overlay to put onto the stock glass deflector. That way its not sticking up about the car's body lines and stuff and ruining its smooth look. Kinda like a sticky overlay with some padding, max thickness 1/4 of an inch that why it would be able to absorb the rock impact and save the glass.

Edit: Or they could make us a metal one to stick up there, the same stock thickness as the glass and color matched to the car. Metal is easier to fix than glass

lol.. yeah it would need to be a full replacement but the problem is the mounting i'm gonna take mine apart and get pics of the mounting because i plan on getting it redone in black cf and most likely sell the 3 piece cf roof.

but a overlay on the glass would be a NO NO lol.. it wouldn't be a good idea it would be best to be a replacement but the problem is that the replacement cf deflector would need mounting points on the back so you would just need to drill through the old brackets to mount it, but the problem is that you most likely need to break the glass to get it off the brackets.
