Default chipped paint

Hi, I have a some chipped paint on my tc, and I bought some touch up paint from toyota.. (1E7) I have a silver streak mica, but this paint is darker and it doesn't even match my car.. Am I using the right coat? Silver Streak Mica is 1E7, right? Then, how come the paint came out darker.. now I have a dark silver spot!

I've bought touch-up paint for several brands/models of cars over the years, and NEVER had the colors match. Not sure what to tell ya, but I do wonder what the dealer would say that you bought the paint from, if you were to show it to them. Seems like they'd have to give you some kind of explanation, if they care about anything other than your money.

Shake up the can really good.

Pour a little of it on a piece of cardboard, or into a Gladware container.

Use a toothpick or very small hobby paintbrush, the kind used for model kits, to apply.

Use only the portion of the paint that looks closest to your car's color.

Silver is one of those colors that's hard to match, and really needs to be sprayed on to look right. If you're covering small chips, you should be good with the above method, working a little bit at a time.

For anything larger, though, or on really visable areas like the hood, you're going to need to have it professionally done.

Trust me, I know. My tC's back at Power Collision having the hood repainted because of all the freaking construction around here.

no...touch up paint is 99.9% garbage anyway. it does not work well on hoods. it is more or less best used for door edges or fender edges.
