I am gonna be putting my Kaminari CF hood during the summer and I saw a buddy's car and he had several spider cracks from the rocks on the roads. Anyone ever have that problem?

How long did it take to do that? You can get it recoated with clear coat I think.

 

its been like 2 months with it being REALLY hot in so cal and a zpi stage 0. i would be it recoated, but i dont want the damn hood pins.

nah they're already installed, and i hate em. id love to keep it since i have my cf hatch, but its just yellow now

it hasn't been that hot in cali lately... but i have seen some hoods turn yellowish due to the heat.

i've had mine 2 years in so cal and no yellowing yet. I haven't recoated it, just wax it every 5-6 months

 

I'm telling you guys! You have to do this as soon as you get your hoods! Maybe not for kaminari abut I would anyways. Take it to a local shop and have them put a good clear coat on it! Carbon fiber & resign fades when left in sun for a long time. You need a good clear coat on that to keep it from fading. I"m not saying any clear coat like true finish or transtar. You need good clear. Like Dupont, RM, Glauserit, etc.

i waxed my hood once a month. still faded.

 

yeah, my cf fuel door is getting like cracks all over it. not sure if i can just have it refinished or something. but it was just a fairly cheap one i got off ebay. maybe i'll order another one and get it finished.

 

damm my hood was clear 8 monts ago! and it has not faded at >>> so yea u should do that when u get it

 

it still needs a good clear coat on it...but then waxing it every few months will help it...waxing it every month now, that might be over doing it...i don't think it will cause it to fade though
