ok ill try to answer everyones questions.

yes cutting the taliights open was a btich.
and im sure re-sealing them will be even worse.
idk what wrong with the VHT.
it worked fine on the parts pictures, but on everything else it kept cracking and seperating as soon as it started to dry.
the cracks were little at first so we tried to cover them up with more layers but that only made the cracks worse.

so we sanded them down and tried again....twice.
same thing.

so we took paint remover, took all the VHT of, sanded them, cleaned them with alchohal, then rinsed them with water.
one worked and one did not.

so were gonna continue trying tonight until we get it right

If the VHT keeps giving you trouble, you can try those little cans of spray tint used for models. I have gone that direction in a pinch.

 

alot of your problems w/ VHT are prob having to do with this wonderful weather here in IL. You're ideal temp will never be reached for atleast a month or 2 for spraying with VHT. You may try going with a thinner coat of vht and spray them in your house rather than outside or in a garage. It may be just enough of a temp increase to keep it from cracking. Just an idea. were having major problems here.
1AM, but i will still stay up until they are done!

 

we gave up on the VHT so were now painting the surface of the reverse light with regular white house paint.
lol.
we dont know what else to do.
i wont have reverse lights but i dont reverse to often anyways.

 

i hate winter for fcukin up the vht

well it was nice meeting some of you today at the libertyville show.
i brought the unfinished lights with for people to check out.
yea that right...unfinished.
