Custom Projector Fogs
Posting it over from ystc.

Fogs are projector Hella 90mm modular units (completely sealed used for custom projects), I used the OEM fog grill frame.
Before you say "why would you want to mount them where the OEM ones are, the fogs for the corners are better." I didn't have a choice my tC is a RS4.0 which has a lip kit that doesn't allow me to use the corner grill areas. I wanted a close to factory look so I reused the stock fog grill.
I'm running the factory fog switch with an HID kit.
It produces some decent light out to the sides and quite a bit of extra light in the foreground.
I originally wanted to do this project myself figuring it was an easy starter project to mount some fully-sealed units into a grill. I was wrong, I ended up taking it to a body shop to finish the project. I'd rather pay someone to do the work right than have me halfass it when I have time to work on it.

The cut off on the wall is from the headlights, not the fogs btw.
The fogs still have vertical and horizontal adjustment, there are screws that you can adjust by reaching down between the bumper and radiator. The radiator had to be moved back a little by boring out the hole the rubber mount is mounted into. If I had gone with halogen bulbs I could've avoided this but since the HID kit I used had rebased bulbs (the wires come straight back out of the bulbs) I had to give the bulbs more clearance. The halogen bulbs are H7 or H11 so the bulb base comes out at a right angle.

The work is not trivial for a regular person. It required hacking up the OEM fog grill (you won't be able to use it for the OEM fogs afterwards), a custom bracket to attach the fogs to the grill (you could build this yourself out of lexan or metal if you're savvy) and then minor modification to the hole that you mount the radiator to (actually maybe the heater core), this will allow enough clearance for the fog lights and the bulbs. You could use different fogs as well that have shorter length but I found the Hella units to fill the hole appropriately.
I didn't wire the lights to come on independently. The problem here is you have two decent choices:
1. hardwire to power on all the time (meaning the switch is the ONLY thing that turns them on/off, you'll have to remember to always shut them off)
2. hardwire to parking lights but keep the switch (if you use your remote to lock your doors your parking lights flash, which flash your fogs if the switch is on which for an HID kit would kill your bulbs/ballasts. Meaning you'll still need to remember to turn them off when you get out of the car.)
Right now I've been avoiding flashing my brights when my fogs are on (fogs cut power when high beams go on with the stock fog wiring).
Sometimes I would forget to turn off my fogs since they are wired independently; but honestly I've left them on (halogen bulbs) for a good 2hours while I went inside a movie theater. Came out and car started up fine. OEM battery.
There are pros and cons, but if u run an HID kit to the fogs, I'd prefer the independent switch so u can flash your highs while keeping the fogs on... and use them too with the highs
not to mention, a 35w draw vs a 55w halogen draw ; you'd be safer running independently and forgetting it with an HID kit ;)
