I know back in the day they made stupid/ugly bolt on stainless things that used to fill the advertisement sections of import magazines.
I've been noticing alot of this forums users that have FI or even some NA cars with a aftermarket exhaust have burn marks on the their bumpers/plastic on the tips of their mufflers.

has the technology advanced where they make something that's effective and not ugly?

Here's a thought, don't sit there and idle for an hour like a cool guy. No burning then.

 

you get more bumper burning while the car is driving,then idling,more gases flow and faster

 

there used to be a carbon fiber sheild you could put there but those were kind of rare

 

If you have a proper fitting exhaust the bumper shouldnt burn.
