Default eBay is Funny

Someone linked to this auction on eBay for a body kit in a PPC thread. I didn't want to jack that thread, so thought I'd just create one here.

Anyway, here's the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=390071841800

I noticed this in the listing:
Brand New 100% Authentic AITracing product: KS series body kit for 2004 - 2009 Scion tC
Are these people serious? Sure, it is a 100% AIT product... but it is a 100% rip off of a Kami product. Not that I do any business with AIT as it is, but this basically seals the fact that I now have zero intentions of EVER doing business with them.

Just sad.

Ya, like RCZ is saying, you just have to be smart about it. And that is a damn good deal for a TRD Exhaust. I was happy to get mine for $250 shipped from the Classifieds like 2 yrs ago.

Yea mine was $130 shipped, I don't know if the guy selling it was dumb or not but it was in perfect condition, no dents, dings, scratches, or holes, and sounds great.

legally if AIT changed one small insignificant part of the kit, they can get away with copying Kaminari's kit. I have a friend who worked for MOMO and Yokohama who said they couldnt sue companies who copied their wheel designs for the same reason. also if there's no patent issued to the original product, it makes legal action harder. if you copy/counterfiet a trademarked name or logo, then lawsuits are inevitable.

and the reason it says 04 is because some people purchsed their 2005 tC's towards the end of 2004.

Ya, but they're not 2004 model year... they're still 2005 tCs.

Industry Insider Report-

Basically, Kaminari does not sell to any of their wholesalers anymore. They actually one day just said we are not going to sell to anyone anymore and distribute the parts ourselves. Which is fine they have manufactured for us for years...but a lot of companies and distributors are angry about this..in anycase most knock off's are going to go for cheap because they want to crush Kami by whoring out the replicas.

Oh and as for law...and the reason so many ____ty knock off kits are out there it is because people keep buying them. On top of that many are not looking for quality just price (who is the cheapest). People have knocked off our parts and kaminari's but we are very restricted in the trade to pin them with infringement because most patents take years to obtain far away from the span that a vehicle is golden for. But when the patents pass...hello retribution...

So I know we sell AIT and ED parts but they are mostly knock off replicas, they replicate any kit brand. I believe at one point we were selling our own bmw kit and the replica one from ED that they duped..Very frustrating but good for a laugh.

Oh and even for an inside laugh at the ebay joke Buddy Club veroed ebay members for selling the BC2 tc kit! Buddy Club never made the kit, another company I used to work for cut and molded the kit to the tC, however since they made the design they copied it and now sell it as official Buddy Club! The fittment remains off...Imagine a good company replicating a part calling it thier own part (no R&D) because it has the same look as thier line of products! Whew...

Nothing is as it seems--ebay--is a trend that is fading--go with a name brand that can back the parts. Money well spent and takes the steam out of the replicating business.

This has been the insider by BigC lol

We bought our tC in Oct. 04 from Toyota for a buck. So i guess some people think that the 05 tC was actually started in 04 though they went on sale in end of 04 start of 05.
