Default Electrical Issue with HID install?

I installed my plug-n-play HID kit yesterday flawlessly and they work ... but now I am experiencing some weird electrical issues:

1. When I start the car for the first time after a while it stalls out, and I have to start it again to get it to stay running.

2. Once started the clock and my GPS has been reset.

3. The window buttons work but not as they should, in other words pushing all the way down does not put the window all the way down anymore, and the drivers side controls for the passenger window doesn't work at all.

4. Sunroof works, but it is very delayed when I hit the button, and the stop features where it opens partly then stops, doesn't work either.

Anyone have any ideas? I did not install a relay. I checked all the connections and made sure that the neg terminal on the battery was secure and tight.

Your windows need to be rest. You have to do this on each door. roll the window down all the way pull the button to roll up the window and hold for 2 seconds once it is has stopped rolling up.

All the rest I am not sure about.

Ok, I will give that a try.

Any idea why the car stalls when left for a bit, and the clock and GPS are reset?

It sounds like your car is losing all power at points. The window issue is a sure sign. I know that the ECU if it has been disconnected from power for a bit has to "re learn" but I don't think I have heard of it causing it to stall.

I will recheck all the wires again but I am sure that everything is in the right place. I don't understand why all this is happening, a bit weird.

Do you think it will be OK to drive the car? I have to go to Jersey tonight.

I'd say check your grounds and make sure everything is tight/not corroded. It should be okay to drive just as long as it doesn't die out, which is a possibility by the sounds of things. As for the windows, they just need to be reinitialized. I think for the sunroof you hold the forward button down for a little while and it will initialize, but I don't know for sure.

Crap, I will try and fix it before hand. Do you think it would be safer to simply install the relay?

Silly question I am sure, but with regards to the relay ... the positive and negative terminal holes are quite small, how exactly are you supposed to "attach" them to the battery in your car? (I know I can ground out the neg on anything solid in the chassis, but more so I am thinking the positive)

Nevermind, figured it out. I am going to also take out my VRD fogs and see if they are an issue, I had to modify them yesterday and I remember the wires being wet ... I want to take them out of the equation.

If he had acid on his battery, he would smell terrible rotten eggs. You are losing power to your car. Reset your sunroof and windows as previously mentioned. Ensure that your intake (whether stock or not) has all hoses properly attached. Take your battery to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts to have it tested for free. Did you take off a battery terminal when doing the install? If so, the window and sunroof thing is normal. In regards to the stalling issue, it sounds like you have a vacuum leak or the battery is dying.

Odd that it would take place at the same time. I uninstalled the fogs (VRDs) because one of broken anyways, I left the wiring in place and taped off the ends and filled the holes with the stock plastic pieces. The fogs were wired normally as you would with VRDs.

I find it hard to believe that just suddenly I have a vacuum leak, and if that is the case it is sporadic, because I just started it twice now and it is fine.

I reset the windows and sunroof those are back to normal for now at least. If I let the car sit for bit that is when it stalls out. But if I try to start it again it is fine ... weird right?

Sounds like a battery crapping the bed to me. A vacuum leak may have sprung if you were working near the intake. Just a possibility. Unlikely though. Replace the battery and see if you still have the problem.

I disconnected everything including my fogs and then hooked up just the HID system. Everything seemed fine at that point. I cleaned the terminals on the battery even though they looked fine.

I took out the broken fogs but left the wiring and taped off the ends with electric tape for when I get new fogs. I guess it was causing the issue, because so far this morning everything worked great.

Thanks for all your help everyone. And HIDExtra for awesome HID kits.
