Ok, so when I got the tC back in 2006 I got the optional tint... which, according to the little sticker, is "Digifilm 32%"... trouble is it's not dark enough for me. Not a big deal, I know the legal limit in Alabama is 32% but plenty of guys I know went to 20% with no problems... here's the problem... my friend just got 35% done on his car and his is WAY darker than mine... and now I'm confused... anyone know what's up with my "tint" and why it's not as dark as what he got? 'Cause what he has is exactly the darkness I want but, in theory, mine should currently be darker... they're not.

Pick for example... yes, the window is UP and is supposedly 32%...

That much though? I can't say I ever really remember it being that dark... hence why I've been contemplating getting my windows tinted (even though they already are) for quite a while now.

 

what color is your friend's car?

I have 35% all around and it appears dark due to my car color being silver.

 

It probably really isnt 32% I dont know if shops carry the meters but maybe you can get it read to see how dark it actually is. That really doesnt look dark at all, kind of looks like 50% even though it is hard to tell from that pic

 

this is simple. but im not completely sure. You said 32 or 35% and yours was factory done, they did it exactly 32 or 35%. Your car although stock seems like it has no tint, actually has tint on it already even though it is not noticeable to the naked eye. When your friend asked to do 35% usually the shops do it on top of the already stock windows. hope this helps

 

I think that's what's going on... yours was tinted (likely by the dealer - not the factory - it's not a factory option) to be 32% total... where as your friend's is probably 35% in addition to the 74% already on the door.
