Are Foglights really worth it?
i was planning to get fog lights but then i was thinking..do i really need them? i already have HID headlights. lol do they make a big difference? my 5000k arent as bright as i wanted. i was wondering if i should get some new bulbs or get the fogs? bulbs = 40ish fogs = 65$
foglights really aren't for providing additional usable lights, it is really just a styling thing, unless they are million candle power fog lights for off-roading, which aren't street legal.
but on the street, they are just for looks. i personally really like foglights, especially when they accent the bodylines nicely.
also, your HID kit is as bright as you'll see without doing a full retrofit. trust me, HID kits are neat, and i had a set for my lows, highs, and vrd fogs, but i got them done the same week my brother got his new CLS 550, and his real factory xenon lights made my set up look like crap.
so no, foglights won't provide you with that much more light, if you want more light, look into doing a retrofit, HID kits don't properly focus the light to make use of all that light output.

foglights ironically...don't really help with fog!!! nothing does, the more light you throw at it, the more light that gets reflected back at you!!! no matter how bright or dim, or how they are aimed, or what color they are. doesn't matter.

i figured a yellow light from down low would help.
in all i am on my 3 pair of oem, rocks or road debri. i live near a few lakes and a bay.some times it is mad foggy. I do believe in them. as long as the lite is heading strait down at the road and you reduce you speed they are a valuable.
i've had both OEM fogs on my explorer and my tC and now vrd fogs with yellow HID's, driving up to frostburg in the early morning. it is like driving through a cloud. it doesn't matter what lights you have. i would just take the left lane and follow the solid white shoulder line for guidance.
true it was the thought of the old days that yellow was shorter on the wave length but now we have all the test it doesn't mater what color it is. but it does matter how much light you point at the road using hid might be too much for the fog. i may be off on that but the light reflecting off the condensation bleeding out all over cant be good like using hi beams in the fog

not both.. and yess they do make a big big differences..
