Default Front Splitter Question

I am looking into either buying or making a front splitter for my car. I am wondering if someone with one could take a picture of the underside of their car. I'd like to see how the splitter is attached and what is needed to do it correctly and securely.

Since you remove the undertray, do you use bolts/washers/nuts to attach the splitter to the bottom of the car at the front of the bumper? I am also curious how it attaches to the frame mounts under the car. Thanks.

mine is drilled into my bumper with bolts, nuts, and washers... (its APR) if you do it i would recommend attaching it directly to the peice of metal that you use to jack up the car as well as attaching it to the bumper, but you dont have to do this. it will be secure if you just attach to the bumper; mine is and has been for like 10k miles. the thing itself isnt very heavy. one thing that I would recommend is either marking or drilling the holes while the bumper is on the car so you make sure the thing stays flat and fits back on right.
there was a picture out there of someone who made their own splitter, and he did it very well using a semi circle of bolts attaching it to the bumper and one bolt in the middle attaching it to the peice of metal that hangs down.

Thanks for the reply Nyc. Since you have the APR, how many attachment points does it use? Does it use 5 or 7 bolts around the front of the bumper? Are there any extra attachment points besides those 5/7 and the 2 frame bolts?

Talk to the Doc about his Splittar. It's on the "plates and panels" page of his site - which says "coming soon" still... but he might have some more info for you.

Yea, I was looking at his panels yesterday. I'll shoot him a message and see if he is willing to offer any information.

They shipped it with 10 bolts but i drilled 7 holes to attach the thing, this doesn't include the two smaller brace things on the front top of the splitter which attach it just above the lower grille. those are the only attachment points i used but like i said it might be worth looking into attaching it to the frame itself as well, i know some people have although i didnt and it was never an issue for me. my splitter is really secure you can kick it or push on it and ive curbed it a bunch of times and it hasnt moved.
