Getting my TC tinted on Friday!
#41
Just got mine back - I'm in Florida, and (at least in Jacksonville) the darkest allowed is 35 in the front, 20 in the rear. Diamond tint with a lifetime warranty included in the price, got out the door for 160, and the work looks really clean. No dimples, bumps, any of that nonsense. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

I'm going to get 30 or 35% as soon as I get around to it. I don't want it that dark - I like to be able to make eye contact with people outside the car. Safety and all that. I also just really like the way the lighter tint looks.
I had another question though, since I've never had tint before. I used to live in Cali and I wouldn't get any tint if I couldn't do it on all 5 windows like you can in Washington. Anyway, is it safe to use auto window cleaner on tint (the kind without ammonia)? I know ammonia is bad, but other than that, is the stuff that is made for cleaning car windows (which I assume means windows with film on them) otherwise safe, or will anything other than water screw up the tint? I want to keep this looking good if I get it.

Glass-X? Is that a glass cleaner sold by the same people who sell Rain-X? Is there anything other than ammonia that one shouldn't use? I thing I have a Windex Car glass cleaner that smells good and doesn't have ammonia in it - I'm just wondering if it has to specifically state that it's safe on tint, or if it says it's ammonia free if it just is by default.

My tC tint
I live in Missouri and got 5% all the way around. I like it. It is very dark at night if you have to do any backing up. Check out my website to see a few before and after pics. http://myweb.cableone.net/pedsnrs/

do not go 5%, i went 6% all around except the windshield which has about a 14inch strip on it and i cant see any thing out of my side windows/ rear window at night, kinda sucks. i mean its nice gettin in to a car that isnt 200 degrees (damn arizona sun) but when you cant see medians making left turns or pedestrians in crosswalks. things get a bit sketchy. i almost hit 3 people now. if you crack your windows down a little bit its a little better but still, i wouldnt go more than 15 or 20 on the front 2.
but on a good note that huge strip on the front definitly helps when driving into the sun
and no one is seeing in ur car with tint that dark. i cant even see my interior lights when i press the unlock button through the windows. << like wearing you sun glasses at night. hahaha

I got 35% tint done a few weeks ago and I think it looks fine. For those talking about scratches there has been posts before about this I was so scared that it was going to happen to me but no problems so far.....as far as taking the door panel off. I got my tint done a Tint King here in Mass and I know they didnt take the panel off but the entire window was covered. The computer cut the film, if anyone finds a place that does it that way I highly recommend.

Is there any way to check that the tinter got below the second weather stripping before the first window roll down after install? Im sure that this would prevent alot of the problems like scratches and squeaking.
