I noticed my old set fogged once, but it was raining babies that day. My new set haven't fogged yet, and it's been about 6 months.

Did anyone else recieve a white vrd box that said, "Notice: To avoid mosture in the projector headlamp or taillamps please RESEAL them! You can re-seal them by using clear slicone. Apply silicone where the clear cover and the back of the unit meet. Please apply silicone prior of installation" Now, if they are new why the heck are they saying to reseal them! It is a white sticker affixed to the box when I got my vrd's that now are both fogging up!!!!!! I did not reseal them but did anyone else get the same info on the box and did you guys with no problems fogging siliconed it up before install?

I just ordered my new set APT. The only problem is that I cannot find how to install the HID's in the VRD's with the boot remaing still on the back. Any ideas? The vrd pics are gone, if anyone has an idea on how to install this with hid's let me know!

Boot was cut in the top hole to let the cable fit, but the crappy rubber boat was all cracked from the past winter! Now they fogg up when I turn my HId's off. This sucks, I hope the APT ones are good or even better.

Anyone got pics of the boot with their hids?

The VRDs have a small breather tube coming out the back of them, if you don't have the splash guards in water is very likely to get in them. I had some fogging, but I redid the rear boot with some silicone and zip ties. If you want to go with out splash guards, I would suggest making something that will keep the rain off the back of the VRDs. Good luck man.

if u wanna fly here and break the lens on my passenger side you can have the harness.

the lights have to be able to "breath" in order to vent excess heat, at least thats what i understand, for example, oem headlights and foglights have these little "elephant trunks" with a little sponge in there to let air in and out but while keeping moisture out!

so by making your fogs 100% water/air tight, you are acctually allowing the heat to make its way out through another source, maybe around the lense or maybe around the boot!

im no scientist, lol but i think all the heat from inside the light has to have a way out, otherwise the seals will break, or leak!

theres my theoretical .02 cents, lol

The fogs only leak through the shty boots on the back... ive said it before somewhere but ill say it again.

When you get the fogs, re-wrap around the whole boot with electrical tape. Like, alot. So its waterresistent, itll never be water proof. Then wrap all of the stupid little connection boots, since those rust and eventually dont connect as well anymore either.

One of my VRD's fogged on me when I moved to MA (in az i never had a problem) and I took it out, had to dry out the light, put silica gel in it, let it sit, etc etc. When it was all dry I put the bulb back in, slipped the boot over and wrapped the crap out of it with electrical tape. No problems since.

But they're, say it with me, foglights.

I'm gonna have to try the electrical tape thing.
