Grill fogs AND bumper fog lights? Wiring?
So I pulled them apart. The mounting harness for the H3 55w bulbs has a metal clip that is NOT stainless steel...just straight iron or something...it rusts very badly preventing contact to the H3 bulb which IS stainless steel...go figure...this is what causes these units to "fail" so soon. I got a replacement from AutoZone for one bulb that was fried (use a voltmeter) and also ordered some 7.5w 350 lumen LEDs off eBay straight from Hong Kong.
The screws rust badly too.
So all in all if you build a clip with a paper clip and replace the screws you can have a 300$ setup for $60 or so. Note I used a soldering iron and solder to ensure solid connections inside.
Probably just worth the money to get the oem ones.
On to getting some side fogs too. Maybe the $50 crapbay ones too. No reason to spend $185 on a good set, but the $185 pair definitely does look better.
