Default having a problem with MobileHID's

they power just fine, but when it comes to turning them off...they won't shut off. i have to disconnect the bulbs from their ballasts. i have to wait a couple minutes before i reconnect them, if not they will still turn on. does anyone know what it could be???

thanks

I did have this happen to me once. It only happend to me on one side though. It turned out to be a bad ballast. For some reason the ballast retained the electricity even after it was turned off. Check your connections and make sure they are all firmly connected. Be careful too when disconnecting the bulbs from the ballasts. I did that once and shocked the sh** out of myself.

sounds like the little contacts in the relay are sticking in the on position... usually caused by intense heat around the relay assembly itself.

my ballasts do retain power after i turn the lights off, but i would assume it is because those contacts are sticking in the on position like XionLion said? is that correct??? also if it were to be the relay, is it something that can be fixed or should i need a replacement???

I believe it can happen if you switch them from on to off or off to on very fast while the car is still running or providing power. There can be some arcing in the relay that destroys the contacts and basically...melts, to complete a circuit - so it's not a switch anymore. Not sure if this is correct in this case..but just a little something I learned from my microprocessor's class and dealing with a motor.
