Default HID Help

I am looking to get some 8000K HID bulbs. I want them for the regular and bright lights. So, what brands are good? I am thinking Hella is one of them. I want a very crisp platinum colored light like the really nice cars like BMW, Lexus, etc come with. Like with a small blue tint to it. Anyone help me on this?

Ok here we go.

1st off.

These are a projector lens and with the HID bulb, you will not get this. You will get a blush color or whatnot, depending on what k bulb you buy. If you are wanting that cutoff that those lights have and the different color patterns, like, blue to purple and all that in one beam, you will have to retrofit your Headlights with projectors to get the cutoff's an everything unless you want to buy some aftermarket headlights, which I do not suggest.

As far as brands: Steer CLEAR of ebay. Some good buy's are on here for like, $140 bucks or so. Your Headlights are 9006 for the low beams and 9005 for the highbeams. McCollah (sp?) is a good brand but really pricey. do a search and you will find MANY HID threads out on this site. Type in the search box "HID&Headlights" and I promise you that you should find something there of use.

Didn't find much, I did see that it would be expensive. Anyway, I am just debating on 6000K or 8000K. I am leaning towards 8000K because I want a blue tint to it, but barely.

Plus, that RetroFit thread is way old. I am not capable of doing that kind of work.

If you want just a slight blue tint, go with 6000K. 8000K will be really blue. MobileHid IMO is the best HID company. The kits come with an inline fuse and a relay. Don't buy a kit that doesn't have that, and when they tell you that you don't need them, tell them you'd rather be safe than sorry because without that, you could fry your wiring.

It's hard to pick, because I have been looking all over for pics and the 6000K and 8000K are somewhat different on different sites, it's annoying.

8000k is basically blue. Not barely blue tint. Go with 6000k, that way you're not losing visibility.

6000K without glare affecting the picture.

Default 8000k HIDS on 2 different vehicles...

'99 Chrysler Town and Country Luxury minivan on left.
2006.5 Scion xB TCM Box on right.
Both 8000k HIDS by MobileHID
At Night, the 8000k HIDS are Blueish-white. 10,000k are a Deep 'pull 'em over' Blue.
Stock Mercedes, BMW, & Lexus are 4300k.
5000k are Cool White, 6000K are a Warm White with a hint of blue, probably
what you are looking for. The kits are Plug 'n Play.
Suggestion:
You would get Better help and response by Posting Up on the Sponsors threads
asking the Satisfied TC customers for pics with Installed HIDS than waiting
for people to come to you.
Also what you call an old thread means that Sponsor/Vendor has the Most
Experience, Satisfied Customers and Best Service.
You go to the Last page, not the First page.

any aftermarket stuff is never reliable. Especially electronics. But I'm sure you know that already.

I have had both 6000k and 8000k... I would definately go with 6000k. They still have the blue tint to them, but not as much as 8000k. They're like a super-white.

Actually not really, you can get BMW, Lexus quality or better HID's with a good projector retrofit using the right components.
