funny all aftermarket kits are the same quality.
and the little "do it right the first time" advice goes for actual quality components such as oem vehicles that test and retest their products and outlast the vehicle itself.
if you want to do it right the first time, go with a retrofit. if you want to cheap out and get a narrowed beam halogens even outporfm, then get an hid kit. But if you indeed get an hid kit, do not forget to aim your headlights lower than usual. otherwise you may ____ off the wrong driver at the wrong place and tim and get your butt kicked or harrassed.

You are absolutely right with that point.......but.........the poster is asking about quality kits.........and has no ability to do a retrofit.......in his own words..........to be quite honest the 08 projector does a great job of putting out the light..........yes it has hot spots in the middle, but the output is much better than halogen...........and a good kit will last much better than cheap ebay junk..........

I wil be doing a retro on my 08s soon since they are leaking inside stock and I jsut got my warrenty lights........so I got a free set to work with.........and even found a set of projectors from a Saab in the junk yard for cheap.............well if $300 is cheap........

Ok, I am going with 6000K HIDs from Mobile HIDs, but there are different kinds. What kinds do I get for high beams and low beams?

Ok here we go.
....Your Headlights are 9006 for the low beams and 9005 for the highbeams. McCollah (sp?) is a good brand but really pricey. do a search and you will find MANY HID threads out on this site. Type in the search box "HID&Headlights" and I promise you that you should find something there of use.

oh the saab projectors are the same as the non-afs rx330 projectors. if you know how to mod them, then you will get a wide and very intense output. If you don't, then output will be miserable.
With the non-afs you will get from the saab, you need to make a shield. Also, you need swap lenses if yours come with riddles or rings on it.

you don't want high beam HID's unless your getting a Bi-Xenon which are pretty expensive. stick with a halogen high beam to keep viability at its best and you wont burn out a ballast by using it off and on since it takes time for a HID system to "spool up"
if you do turn a HID system (ie: high beam application you will prematurely burn out the ballast which cost more then the bulb.

i have 5000K which is really good. for me anyways. it doesn't look all ricer blue and it works great in the fog. 4300K is "Factory style" HID.

I ran the mobileHID kit for a little while 6000k, and its a good quality kit. But even with aiming them down I thought it had too much glare and I was getting flashed a lot, so I took them off...
