HID lights in aftermarker headlights that say NO HID
So I dont get it. I have 2 different vehicles. An 07 TC and a 95 Astro. Both have aftermarket headlights in them, and both sepcifically say right on them "NO HID bulbs" for the highbeams, but lowbeams are OK?
What gives?
What gives?

Well idk about the high beams for your headlights but alot of people dont like to put aftermarket hid's in the highbeams cause the ballasts cant take the whole flashing light kinda deal. Something the low beams dont do cause they're on or they're off and not being flashed like the high beams might be. That is kinda weird though

+1 for what ^^ he sed
If you look at the low beams, there is an "encapsulator" (i dont know what to call it), that first reflects the light back into the chrome housing before it projects the light out onto the street. High beams dont have that. They project straight straight and at a higher angle hence the term high beams.
HID's in high beams for one, would be total overkill. Really no point to it IMHO. Second, its dangerous for other drivers. Ever driven past someone with there high beams on? Imagine driving past them with HID's full blast.

I'm not sure you know enough about HID's, otherwise you might not be asking. HID's take several seconds to warm up to their natural color and you can say about 20-30 seconds to warm up fully. Using HID's in a high-beam capacity (quick taps and short bursts of output) is going to damage the bulb and ballast, shorten its life and probably fry your harness or ballast in the end.
On the other hand, if you live out in the middle of nowhere with dark roads/little traffic and have a chance to charge the high's fully and keep them on for a while. . . .
I for one never even use my highs anymore thanks to my 8k lows. Its just important to know what damages HID's, and avoiding it
