"HID-like" halogen bulbs?
Is there a such thing as "HID-like" halogen bulbs for the 05-07 reflector headlights that do not disrupt the pattern of the shield in front of the bulb? similiar in terms of color (6k or 8k) ... and maybe brightness.
I dont want to blind on coming traffic with HID's, which from my understanding, disrupt the pattern of the shield in front of the bulb, resulting in spontaneous light output.

there are razo headlights that give off the hid effect. But i'm running 5000k hids in my car, and since my car is low to the ground, the glare is a minor problem.
From experience, just go with hids, i've gone through how many cheap to mid-range bulbs that i finally decided to get them.

i dont think there are any that come close to brightness of HID (in terms of distance brightness) but pure color, theres 5000k bulbs. im running POLARG 5000k halogens and they give off a slight blueish color after they are warmed up. when turning them on, you can really see the blue but it goes away after about 30 seconds.
might not be true HID, and the bulbs i use were about 70$ a pair, so if you want HID, you might as well go for it. i just didnt feel a real need for HIDs.

don't waste your money.
HID kits don't work in reflective housings and send bulbs everywhere and such.
HID like bulbs are just regular halogen bulbs with TINTING on the bulbs, so they actually put out LESS light!!! so you get it to look like you have blueish HID bulbs, but your headlights are dimmer.
i had silver star ultra bulbs in my 05 headlights, and they were great. now i have 08 headlights, and since sylvania doesn't make bulbs for 08 low beams, i had to use PIAA bulbs, which are also good.
so just get regular bulbs, HID look bulbs and such will only be dimmer.

I don't mean to threadjack, but you might want to check this out... this will have info on the 9006-9005 conversion...

This mod will give you better lighting (compared to stock 9006 bulbs) and it's a lot more affordable than going with full HID's.
I would recommend the Sylvania SilverStars like most of the peeps around here. I have the 9005 conversion on my stock '07 headlights and it's plenty bright considering how much this mod cost.
