The stock lights are putting light in that same area, just not as much.

I was gonna get the hids but i changed my mind, Makes it easier to see and easier to be seen by the cops. When more cars get hids then i will but if i was a cop and i saw a little blueish bright headlight that stick out from the rest of the cars on the highway i would pull them over

^ there not blue at all. they are pure white. my camera adds the blue. the reason my buddy gave them up is cause he has 6000K hids in his bimmer and these didnt match, so he didnt like the contrast. they were too white. so there not blue at all. trust me, im a hippocrite, but not a ricer. (or a big one at least). they are just was white as the prius or hid escorts.

as for the glare, that light you circled isnt blinding. notice the intensity level of it? its very faint compared to the focused beam. that light you see is very soft, its there int eh stock bulb, just not as noticable. its not as bad as you think. but when i get my new headlights and paint the inside, im gonna try certain things like add flat paint to some area's to knock down the glare. .but i need a pair of donal headlights first....... anyone ........ anyone?

There are plenty of OEM HIDs that use the same exact housing as their halogen counter parts. HIDs will cause more glare than halogen lights; it's a fact. If you aim them properly, however, the amount of glare can be reduced. If anyone thinks they can install HIDs and NOT cause more glare, they are a tool. You do not need projectors to have HIDs. In fact, in some states (IL I know for sure), aftermarket HID kits are perfectly legal as long as there is not excesive glare.

It's really annoying to see that everytime someone does a good HID install, some idiot has to chime in with "They cause glare!!! Waaa!". Educate yourselves please.

And for magyver, good install. And even better checking the glare. I'm not sure what WI laws are for aftermarket HIDs, but you could always call your state police department to find out. As long as they are legal, I say "Game on!"

HIDs in tC housing doesn't cause much glare. Now, I can't say the same thing for the other cars. I am sure I fried a lot more retinas in the Highlander compared to the tC.

Here's a color scale and some pics to help others decide what color is what and what may look better:

glare my god

just some insight... brighter does not mean safer, that excess light will cause yourself problems in foggy, heavy precipitation weathers

I have 5000K HIDs and I noticed a greater increase of vision in fog. The halogens seemed to just reflect back and a yellow glow vs. the white seemed to cut through it and I could see the road more than the fog. It goes against any light law that a halogen light reflects back more than a white HID light, but it works much better than the silverstars that I had in there and even the stock halogens.

yeah, hids in stock headlight housing is never the most ideal situation, but to make a statement like putting hids in any stock headlight housing is going to produce horrible glare is innacurate, most 'glare haters' seem to always make these generalized satements, every car has different headlight characteristics, what is an accurate satement is that high glare levels in stock cars is hit or miss. for example, i seen hids in a 90 civic hb and various pick up trucks and the glare was horrendous, but then i seen hids in a 06 civic si and looked great. in a tc, the glare is definately tolerable, ive driven in front of my car and comming at it and did not experience problems with 'blinding' and have never been flashed by oncomming drivers or gotten in trouble with police.(ive driven past them, behind them with my 6000k). my dad drove in front of me the other day and he loved the look of my lights, and this guy's eyes are fricken screwed up.....if you click a three way light bulb to the highest setting he btches. when you properly adjust your headlights in your tc, you can cut down on glare and still enjoy much better light output than the stock halogens and silverstars(wich i have owned) so basically what im saying is, we just happen to be lucky not to have a car that produces horrible blinding glare when we stick hids in the headlights.

^^Nice post. Very true. Headlight design is what counts and our stock housings were designed quite well to keep glare at a minimal amount.

For a halogen headlight, the tC's cutoff is pretty good IMO. If you've ever lined your car up next to a wall, the cutoff is very similar to a projector. It's not as sharp of course, but it's better than most other cars. It was probably designed that way because the engineers figured the tuners would eventually put HIDs in them.

I was going to write that myself. Very good point. If it's a car that is designed to be tuned, I'm sure extra thought went into how to already have the car ready to take the mods. Another point that helps this idea is the internal parts swap. Definately not the same as the Camry.

hahahaha, good point............I noticed that when I deadened the panels. Maybe they thought we would take the panels off and get some constructed of fiberglass so we'd cut the speakers out anyways? Just weird in that perspective.

Just like the Dr.Seuss "Green Eggs and Ham" you just got to try it and you'll like it! Bang for the buck plug and plays are great on the tC! I love the fact you have come around I'm adding you to my buddy list!!!
