Well.. .are you talking about real hids? HIDS are more than just bulbs you slap in.True (good ones.. not the knock off junk many sell) will last as long as your car. But they arent close to "worth it" for longevity. Worth it.. on hids is just up to how much you want to pay for a little more vision at night and some bling. Longevity wise.. I am on my stock bulbs at 40,000 miles, and mine stay on every time I drive the car (I never turn them off). So how many pair of standard bulbs would you have to buy to equal the price of hids? WAAAYYY more than I ever would in the life of a car. I think the most I have ever bought for a car was one replacement set.

Very true! I had my stock bulbs on my car and have 30,000 on my car.. I put in HIDs for the look, and for better vision at night. I leave mine on 24/7 as well, and during the day they look good too (the way the headlights look, not that I can see the light on the ground or anything)

HIDs also have that cool start up while the gas heats up. Its more of a personal choice than anything, but if you want something better than silverstars for distance and color, go with HIDs!

the need for HIDs also depends on where you live. If you live in a city that is not well lit or has a lot of pot holes, you might want to consider HIDs... The vision you have with HIDs over convensional halogen buls is incredible. They will help you see the road better, thus the pot hole mention. Trust me, pot holes are my worse nightmare, and you can see them from about 50 feet away- if no one is in front of you of course. Not to mention the start up ritual is cool, and the look you get is an upgrade as well.

damnn... they got ripped.
i have bought hid's for every one of my cars and no problems. They look great and can see better with them.. even have them on my bike. I even bought 2 sets of the cheap ebay ones and they look just as good maybe even better i think. My wife's scion has the cheap one 84 bux on ebay and they look really good. Worth the price, but not 500 worth.. damn... that's alot unless their factory ones.. but still

i have 8000k and it doesn't really look blue at all. just really crisp white.

THe higher the temp, the less output you'll recieve. I like my 4300k and it's really white and bright.

I've got pink hids, I have no clue what color temp they are, because I really don't think they have one...but they're pink. If you look straight at my projectors while theyre on, they look like a very soft pink, basically white, but the light on the ground has a nice pink tone to it. Everyone loves my pink lights and can instantly tell when I'm coming, lol. And they're not pink enough to be ___.

HID's are worth if it you do it right and get it retrofitted in correctly and have nice cutoffs.. period. Yeah, it's expensive, but you definitely notice the difference!
