Hood discolored....need options
So anyway, I got rear-ended the other day and the car is in the body shop. Anyway, I'm embarrassed to say this, but because bird doodoo was left on my hood too long, there are about 6 splotches of discoloration. I asked them how much it would cost to repaint the hood while the car is there...and they want $600! Repainting the hood and blending with fenders and what not. Are there any other options for me? Perhaps I should get a CF hood! I just might if CF hoods still allowed for the washer nozzles. Are there any CF hoods out there with those?
Should I just fork over the $600? Any body shops I should consider here in Dallas besides the dealer's body shop?

CF hoods can allow for washer nozzles... you might have to dremel or drill the holes themselves though. Alot of OEM style hoods can be pre-drilled out for you if requested.
I would rather spend $400 or so for the CF hood than the $600.

or you can try using a chemical cleaner product to clear up the discoloration.
klasse All In One is my goto chemical cleaner.
if that doesn't work, have a detailer look at it. more than likely, a little abrasive polishing on a machine will clear it right up.
more than likely you won't need a repaint dude.

how long have you had your car?
bird poop must be removed asap, keep that in mind
the hood is also known for alot of scratches and knicks from flying objects while driving, you might as well leave it for a while, spending money on a hood right before summer vacation will just leave you.... broke! XD

i've had the car since the very end of July '05. I've asked the body shop to do some buffing/sanding and polishing for free for me. If it doesn't get any better I'm just going to wait a while and get a CF hood probably down the road, and get 3m scotchguard tape. If the hood looks great when they buff it, I'll just 3m that. So we shall see...
