Default Idea for a tC rear diffuser? R there any i can buy or make?

Has anyone made, or bought a rear diffuser for the tC? I just upgraded my stock muffler to a cat back and now I have all this space where the stock muffler used to be. Why is that a prob? Well, I have a raven style rear bumper and its like a cup grabing the air as I drive. I just dont think its so aero that the air flows under and hits the bumper right on. I dont want to risk a possible debris hitting the rear bumper and damaging it cause its FG. Also, I just think it would be nice to make something or get something for my tc to help in the rear staying more to the street. Plus I see all these fancy diffusers online and in car mags that make me want one. Like those complex ones on ferraris and the simple ones on a WRX.

And ideas on where to find or what to use and what kinda design sould a tC rear diffuser whould be is greatly appreciated. And once I am done, maybe I'll make some extra for those that help me alot in the process. Thanks all for any or all input

heck might as well just put a cover on all of the bottom of our cars for better air flow!

It might be possible with a big piece of 1/2" ABS plastic.

Dr. Isotope tends to get creative with ABS plastic. Perhaps he can provide some input if contacted.

I really like those pics of that diffuser. Reminds me of the one used in the 5 Axis green tC from Super Street. Its really nice. I wounder what would be the best and more durable material for the diffuser. Also there are so many different designs for them its hard to even think what would perform (if any), look and be safe to make a prototype. If anyone is interested in designs or have body kit other than stock and raven rear bumpers, I'd like to get some ideas. I know a universal diffuser for the tC is probable impossible because of the variety of kits out there. I just think there needs to be more aftermarket items for the tC.

Thanks all,
NightShade

ps. I'll also load pics of sketches of ideas for comments and advice.

CF is gonna be explensive, and I dont know where Icould possibly get some of that. I was thinking if people really want a diffuser for the tC like I do, maybe I can invest in a custom made vacuum forming machine. I had just bought "How to build a car in The Fast and Furious" book a few days ago and they explain the basics on how to set up one of these machines for like 300-500$. That is if its really needed. I think I will start posting my designs on saturday afternnon-evening. I have to work from 1030am-2 thne go back in at 330-1130pm so I will only have time sat afternoon to post things.

So is any body here interested in helping me as being part of a tC Design Team? That'd be nice, I want a various amount of opinions and advice, I dont want to make something most people dont like or dis about. Thanks

Well its kinda like a spoiler except in underneath the car. Its subpossed to help with the low pressure air traveling under the car to escape through the back in a way that helps keep the rear of the car more stuck to the ground at high speeds. "Also it would just look great on a tC" "I think"

oh yeah, i forgot "high speed" is...... "127" thats if you even or should have to go at that speed. That's why wrx, ferraris have rear diffusers that look cool and complex, that go "faster" than that.

Okay, so then a tC rear diffuser would just be for looks and a little rear end help.

A rear diffuser usually works in conjunction with a an under tray to create (at higher speeds) a low pressure area under the car. The low pressure, high speed air (relative to ambient) pulls the car down. It's the same thing as a wing on a plane but upside-down. That's why high performance automobiles with extremely aggressive aerodynamics are stable at high speeds.

Carbon fiber is expensive, but you can buy it from online sources such as these:

http://www.machv.com/cafiplsh.html
http://www.composite-resources.com/o...s/default.html

...You would probably have to special order a piece the size needed.

If you're serious about vacuum bagging, I found this site that might be helpfull:

http://www.acp-composites.com/acp-cat.htm

Here's a site that sells sheets of various plastics in various sizes.

http://k-mac-plastics.net/abs-sheet.htm

1/4"x48"x96" textured one side - $171.30
*if you wanted to make an under tray

Oh, and even though the tC is front wheel drive, it could (given the right circumstances) benifit from a functioning under tray/ diffuser combination. Or it could be just to say you have one.

thanks for the help captainlaziness.

I'll be sure to load up some pic of designs for a rear diffuser soon. I hope everyone here is interested to see what kinda designs could actually be done in a safe manner for installation and for driving.

Thanks all for the input. Be sure to check out any updates I might post on here.
