Default KAMINARI Hood Water Guard..

Hey guys,

Touched base with the Doc on making a Rain Guard for the Kaminari Hood. This will be a plastic piece that covers up the Reverse Cowl on our hoods
(for people who park their cars in the rain/snow or people who are picky about their engine bays).

Hit me or Doc Isotope up if you're interested.
He needs someone in the Inland Empire area of SoCal to do some prototype testing and fitting.

Im considering purchasing the hood from kaminari. Is this a major technical issue? or is it just that people dont want rain water getting their engine bay dirty?

That's why i'm asking man. I park outside a lot. So if I were to get this hood would it just make my engine a little dirty looking? or could the rain water cause problems with the engine?

Sorry if this is a dumb/noob question, im not really a gearhead.

water getting thru there will not cause any issues..

it's more for cosmetic use and to keep the engine bay clean

i was more-so worried about water going in and the CAI sucking it up during a downpour, or if the cars been sitting a while having rain water collecting at the bottom near it

Ive had mine on for two years and havent had any issues. And have parked outside in torrential rain. Zero problems with it. Great way to vent heat off your engine, turbo or not. I can feel the heat off mine and I'm just N/A. Putting a cover over it would be a waste to me. Your engine is going to get dirty regardless. Dont be afraid of a little water.

guys water through the vent is very minimumal.......I live in Washington state where is always rainy, car parked out side 24/7.....hood on car for 24months now year round and you can still do surgury on my motor bay, header has no spots, motor clean, hoses clean, tranny clean, intake clean, wires clean, fan clean, radiator clean......

really the water issue is not an issue, what little water gets in just passes right to bottom of bay and onto ground.....take garden hose and run it for an hour on hood and then pop the hood,it wil be dry underneath....really it will.

Ya know Chris, now that I think about it, the water could be an issue. Might possibly blow your engine...best to play it safe and keep the stock hood. Dont want to take any chances after all.

it actually doesn't hit the ground... it hits the splash guaunds under your car. Unless you dont have the bottom splash guards installed.

Water builds up on the splash guards and splashes on the headers. I have water spots on my headers and radiator fan. Hella annoying to clean off but w/e

This part is gonna be inexpensive and for those who are picky about their engine bay.

So any socal people willing to help out with designing this part with Doc Iso??
