If you're looking to get a key that has the unlock and car alarm buttons on it, you have to go to the dealership. When I was looking into getting one made, I called 3 different places and they wanted anywhere from $250 to $350 to have it made & programmed for it. I said screw that.

I went to a local locksmith and got what most people refer to as a valet key made & programmed...it's just a normal key that doesn't have the unlock buttons on it for $65. Your best bet is to call around your local locksmiths and find whoever has the best price.

With him having to tape it, I am guessing it's the unlock/lock/alarm alert key.

Make sure you save the chip inside, and if it will last long enough, get a switchblade key on ebay and just transfer the stuff over to that. Then you got yourself an awesome new key for cheap.

If your car is a "certafied pre owned" from the dealership then you were suposed to recieve two keys with it. I only got one with mine and then i found out months later (almost a year)when my only one was falling apart that you were supposed to get two keys. I went back and even after all that time i ended up getting a brand new key for free, it took a little argueing but in the end they are supposed to give you two. it would be worth a try if its "certafied" and you only got one...hope this helps

I got 3 keys. 1 with all the controls. 1 that turns the car on and a 3rd one to open the doors but without the chip inside so it cannot start the car. All came from the dealership.
