Default Leaking outter tie Rod

i have a 06 tc with about 54xxx miles on it and i noticed that my outter tie rod is leaking some grease,i know this will be a issue later down the road,my question is how can i fix it and it is easy,is it a DIY something simple..

forgive me if its in the wrong section

it will get dry later. causing it to break depending on the condition. i would replace if toyota does not sell the boot by it self.

Sure its the tie rod and not a CV shaft?

Anyways, nothing you can really do except replace if it is the tie rod.

Edit: Also obviously this is the wrong section. A tie rod is a suspension part, but would be better suited in the general lounge. Not Aero.

yea im pretty sure,ill post some pics,but its a little bit of grease leaking when i had the wheel turned all the way to the left,the wheel isnt loose when i shake the wheel back and fourth,but yea sooner or later goona replace it,gotta check the other side also,


My CV shaft is fine, tie rod is much smaller that does the sterring/control but im sure you know that

Yup, just wanted to make sure. A lot of people will confuse the 2. But your best bet will be let it run its course, then replace later.

what signs will i see if the tie rod is giving,should i wait or should i fix it,like i said i only noticed that cause i was checking out my rotors,but i do know that grease leaking from any where is a sign of wear and tear,

this can be changed in your own driveway its just get a alignment after

aside from the proper tool sizes you need a jack + jackstand

Because the Tie Rod effects the position of the wheel. Notice all the threads? Its for making adjustments. The Tie Rod is actually one of the biggest adjustments to correct alignment. You can do the install in your driveway, and try to count the threads of the old to the new to get it close, but an alignment should always be done afterwards.
