Recommended to sand the lettering off the signal for a smoother by touch feel. Not necessary for look. When you are more than a foot away or not touching you cannot see that it is not laying smooth.

Also recommended to change the light bulb to clear for a better look at night

 

nice, but wouldn't they be illegal in certain states? does the cover to over as the predominant color when the signal comes on?

 

You would have to check your local state las on legality we cannot keep up on every state. The signal light still works and shows through the color.
