Ok so i got a pair of TYC tails on craigs list. I was going to attempt to heat them up and remove the amber piece and try and put a red lens or something inside so they look like the RS3... I wasnt really digging those red overlays. My question is, has anyone attempted to take apart their tail lights for modifications and is it relatively easy? Additionally does anyone know if the amber signal is even removable from the TYC tails? Thanks in advance... PS i do have my OEM tails if i damage the TYC's, so im not really concerned about taking the chance

 

this was just covered like 4 days ago...theyre hard to take apart so please dont ruin some rare tails by trying yourself if youre not a professional

 

I don't think the tails can be opened by baking them. But you're welcome to try

 

They can and its been done. Well someone attempted to do so, im not sure if they finished but yea...GO for it!!

 

Im still waiting for them to arrive at my house... ill see what i can do once i look at the housing... even if i can remove the amber and somehow put bluebats overlays inside or something... i dunno lol

 

i dont think you can heat them up cause theyll damage the led's. not to sure though. from what i know you have to actually drill into the light from the side portion, not sure. but idk

I got a driver side tyc with a slight surface damage that I'm selling for cheap, you can take that and experiment with it before you open up your own tails (and risk damaging perfectly good tails)

 

No you cant bake them, that will damage teh LED's. I think you have to use a dremel to separate the lense.
