Default My first mod! + Question

I know it's nothing uncommon, but I just got my first mod done, a pedestal spoiler.

Expensive, but worth it.

Anyway, I'm thinking i'm probably going to do lowering springs next. I wanted to get some ideas of how much of a drop I should consider. A friend of mine said I should go with the TRD 1" drop springs, and he's probably right, but 1" doesn't seem like it'll make all that much of a visual difference.

There are a good amount of potholes where I live, and I have to go over 3 of those big 'speed humps' just go get out of my development.

That said, I don't mind a rough ride as long as it's not rattling my brains out. Does 1" sound right? 1.5? 2.0? SEVEN INCHES?

Theres not a whole lot of room to drop a tc, so even an inch to inch and a half is a considerable amount. But as far as drops go, the trd isnt enough for me. I went with tein S-techs, I forget how much the drop is exactly front and back, somewhere around 2-2 1/2". They also have h-techs which arent as aggressive. Those are the two I would consider...

just my .02

I think TRD's are enough. This is ScionJon's car with TRD shocks and springs.

I agree . I went with Tein S Techs also . They lower the car 2.4" in the front and 2.0" in the back and i love it . I dont have problems with speed bumps or anything like that !!

Heres a pic of mine lowered on Tein S Techs !!!

They are only good if you have say, 19 inch rims. Other wise they are pretty dumb

If you're planning on getting a body kit in the future, S-Techs will make driving a pain. TRD's are a great all-around drop.

I have the full TRD package. I got it a few days after getting my tC and the difference was huge. If you are going for looks, get the springs, but if you want vastly improved handling then you should get the whole lot. I got the springs, shocks/struts, sway bar, and strut bar. The handling is my favorite part of this car. It just hugs the road. Incredible difference compared to stock.

The pic doesn't really show the drop, but I guess it gives you an idea of what the TRD springs will look like overall:

I think s-techs are much too lower...so low that they negatively affect handling and end up scratching your car. TRDs are real nice and they make a VERY noticeable difference vs stock.

Well.. going over 2" you begin to flirt with making it handle worse, not better. Lowering any car too far throws off the suspension geometry, and I believe Rick found that 2 inches is about as far as you want on the tC unless all you care about is looks.

As far as the trd drop, I have had plenty of compliments on mine and how clean it looks. And with the rear sway and some decent tires it makes a world of difference in the way the car handles

I think the TRD springs are perfect for all around use IMO, but if you're more about looks than handling/performance, then go with something else that lowers the car a bit more.
