It's technically interior, a little power hungry, but more associated with Drag Coefficient, since it's a bling mod as well...
The Autopower Roll Bar getting Black Sand Pearled!
So...
I just finished painting the baby, just waiting for it to dry!
Check out my super-garage-booth!

And my BSP BARS......

That stuff is COOL...
Gravity load painting with good paint is soo much more awesome than using a lame spray can.... The pearl is absolutely beautiful....
We painted a 72 Superbeetle BSP to match my two scions and it came out so-so.... cars are supertough to paint the right way.... even with the correct paint and good tools...

I used an Campbell Hausfeld HVLP Gun with a 5 Gal two tank compressor, since it wasn't a big job.... running at 20 PSI...
The paint was mixed locally for the BSP mix and used 50-70 degree hardener and reducer, as it's quite chilly around here and I needed something that worked for the cold..
It's quite an undertaking to accomplish..... especially setting up all the plastic in the garage.... cause it's essentially a dust cloud of paint when you get going....

wow i would love to paint more stuff in that garage.
anyway, you should've used more of a brighter color for the roll bars. black is boring. red or orange would have been fantastic.

I'm about clean.... if you look at my car, it all sort-of fits.... BSP is my favorite color, so I thought I'd colormatch the bar to the car...
The seats are going to be black and carbon, so they will fit with the bar as well....
Keep it all one motif... looks purdy that way...

I heated it up to around 65 before I started, then shut of all heat, as the paint is super explosive when in the air.
By the time I finished it was about 52, so I took down the plastic and started airing out the garage.... once it was aired out sufficiently, I started back up the heaters and brought it back up to around 65.... the next day, I pulled them into the house to ensure that they got nice and warm....
Turned out pretty darn good in my opinion....

The Paint originally cost 120 bucks for enough to do an entire 1972 Superbeetle, plus my bars, with clearcoat, hardner and reducer included...
It'd be much cheaper if you just wanted a quart or something.... but I went for the full gallon for what I needed, just used the left-overs for the bars....

Too bad you took it all down as I have some red parts for my daughters car than need sprayed and I have the paint, reducer, etc, dang
I wish I had thought of it!!!
I have a gun and compressor so I can do it myself I guess but what a pain. I may just go have some of the paint put in a spray can, if that can still be done as I used to have it done back in the 70's

By the way, his car is very classy looking as it should be, I support his desire to go for class instead of bling completely, why we got involved personally and professionally with him to begin with
