ok, here's the situation....

my car was parked on the street.. right in front of our house. soon as i stepped out of the gate early this morning on my way to work, i saw that my APR rear wing was STOLEN!! the sh*thead/s unscrew the wing, and left the two posts stuck on my trunk!

i went to d auto shop where i had my wing installed, they said that it's impossible to replace it with a lip spoiler because it won't cover the holes on my trunk. im sure it will cost me a lot to get a replacement or get it patched, whatever the car dealer can do.

*do i have to get an RS1 trunk or any tC trunk will do? as long as it's the same year?

*my main concerns are fitment and color match, but maybe i can get it repainted

*i dont want to get another spoiler, bcause im sure those sh*theads will come back

*is it true that the lip spoiler won't cover the holes? i don't know how far away from the trunk's tip the holes are. but can anyone give me d dimensions of the oem lip spoiler?

*if i go straight to toyota, does any1 hav an idea as to how much it'll cost me? to patch d hole or get a new trunk.

dont know the reason for putting that ugly thing on there in the first place, but it doesnt look like the lip spoiler will cover that. maybe the pedistal spoiler will. I think those people did you a favor, but its sad to see they would steal something from you. im sure that sucks! im sure any shop will charge a pretty penny for the fill and all that other work. the dealership might be the last place to get it done considering price. I would say buy a pedistal spoiler and see if it can be coverd up?

you can get any tc hatch to replace it. you just need it painted the same color. the paint code is on your driverside door sticker.

and from now on, no more wings!

 

Trust me on this man. Just have it filled up and repainted. Itl cost about 350 - 400. If you bought a new one it would be what ever the cost of that is + 300 - 350 to repaint it + another 150+ to have somebody move the glass from the old one to that one. So not worth it!

If your interested I could send you bumper plugs that should fit in the hatch. RS1.0 color matched.

thanks for ur input, i'll go look for an auto shop that would fill it up. i know it'll cost to get a new hatch.. if i get a hatch of diff color, another $$ to repaint it. and this time, definitely no wings! hehe. i had a CF hood couple of yrs back, messed up my car. fitment was poor and some dumbas* suv backed up on my car, uphill, caused a dent on my bumper and ruined my hood! so now im back to my messed up orig hood, hehe.

had an estimate done. it'll cost $570 to patch the holes and repaint the hatch. it includes lifetime warranty. my fingers are still crossed, hoping to find a cheaper way to get it done.

 

hey what was the final verdict, i know this thread is pretty dead but have been thinging of eventuallt swapping my pedistal spoiler with a lip, just wondering how everything came out

 

the people who saw it didn't steal your wing, they saw how ugly it is and did you a favor by removing it for you.

 

Be thankful it was just a spoiler, and not the whole car. I've been there. Hopefully this will motivate you to get an alarm and not park on the street.

i would have stole it too. their are cleaner spoilers then that. its front wheel drive. doesn't need a wing like that.

eniway, i got my tc's hatch repaired. looks great. the auto body shop did an excellent job! for u guys living in the bay area, i recommend gava's auto body, in san bruno.
paid $570 for the repair. to cover the outside and inside holes.

sad thing is i have a car alarm and it was parked in front of our house. can't park in the garage because the landlord uses it. learned my lesson the hard way. now im thinkin about gettin a lip spoiler, hehe jk.

datdude, still interested in the taillight? i changed it to the tyc taillight just a month after purchasing the car, so it's in excellent condition. free? nope. what's your offer? or is there anyone else interested?
