Default New bulbs.

I would like some brighter bulbs for my tC, but I don't want to go extreme and do a HID conversion etc. I just want to get a bulb plug it in and call it a day since my knowledge and DIY skills are limited. What should I be looking at if I want something nice.

PIAA's for sure. They are more expensive than most, but you get what you pay for.

What about HID bulbs are those the same as the ones in the HID kits?

silverstars are not worth the 35 bucks a pair they sell for.

before i had HID's, i had eurolite xenon fusion bulbs for my low beams. they were bright with a lite hint of blue to them.

i used them for about two years running them 24/7. they were great bulbs.

unless you have a ballast, they are not hid bulbs.

alot of bulbs say they are "hid look" so they look kinda like hid's, but aren't.

if you are going to spend 90 dollars on headlights, you should just go to www.3bspec.com and get a real hid kit for $140 instead of fake me out overpriced piaa.

just go with hid's. its really not that hard to install plus they'll last longer and look alot better than normal halogen bulbs.

I would really love to get a HID kit but I'm worried the police here will pull me over, I was looking over some of the plug n' play kits but I don't want to be pulled over in the first I don't want to give them an excuse to pull me over.

just get stock 4300k or even 5000k. they won't pull you over if you have headlights that look like stock white/yellow. also just aim your headlights down lower

You could do a 9006 to 9005 swap like Yanki mentioned:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...ight=9005+9006

Or you could give HIR headlight bulbs a try:

yea but i doubt they will take a second look at it. at 4300k, it just looks like really bright silverstars.

before my retro, i was using silverstars, HIR's, and a plug n play hid kit. silverstars didn't last that long (look very nice though, lol). HID kit caused WAY too much glare (reason for retrofit). IMO, the HIR halogen bulbs put out more useable light onto the road when compared to the HID kit.

Tell me about these HIRs. Can you link me to a brand/model? I have the Silverstars right now. I did the low-beam mod to use the same bulbs in both the high and low beams (resulting in brighter low beams), but I've never heard of HIR until a few second ago. Sounds like a nice alternative to HID. Tell me more.

The HIR headlights seems to be a very promising upgrade.
Some nice bulbs are OSRAM (not Sylvania) Silverstars and Phillips Extreme Power, but too bad they don't make it on our sizes.

Remember, tinted bulbs are like tinted windows...who the hell tints their windows so it can be brighter?

Yeah, did that already. Was hoping to get some tC-specific info.

If they don't make them in our size, how come this guy used them in his tC?
