new hids stopped working
gf was driving home last night from a business meeting, and the headlights just turned off. these are the 6k H11 kit that was installed last week.
she was about 45 minutes away still, so I drove out to meet her. none of her fuses in the wiring harness were blown, and none of the ones in the relay/fuse box in her car were blown either.
i checked all the connections, i saw nothing wrong there. checked the wires going to the original headlight switch that triggers the HIDs, nothing there either.
i pulled out the HID bulbs, put them back into their protective housings for now, put the old headlights back in and they worked fine. she was able to drive home.
but now, when i go back outside to figure out what's wrong, where should i start? i could hear a single clicking noise when she turned the headlamp switch on (when the HIDs were in, but wouldnt turn on)
and it is both headlights, not one. went out at the same time
ideas?

check (with a multi meter) for power at the HID balasts.
this will make sure the power wire is not pinched, pulled loose, or blown an inline fuse that you did not know about.
check the ground wire too.
check all the connections. check the wires you might be tapping off of and the wire you are connecting right at the connection point.

it's a bada bling HID kit, came with it's own wiring harness/relay etc.
the power is coming from the battery positive. the ground is coming from a bolt on the frame next to the battery. it's the same setup that people have linked to from here, with the photo instructions of everything.
