so, if your gonna go through all the trouble to hack them apart and THEN overlay, its still an overlay... so at that point, why the F wouldnt you remove it?

and BTW if you overlay the inside, and it bubbles, what ya gonna do? overlay the outside is your best and smartest route unless you get custom w/ it.. and by that i dont mean overlaying the INNER amber...

i was contemplating this about a year ago, i did a little photoshop and posted the picture in the "post your tailight" thread... my plan was to bake, pop out the amber, and put in a chrome turn sig... decided against this cuase i heard people's LEDs were going out and i didnt wanna get screwed over by the dealership since my warranty is still in tact and will be for 5 more years

The tails are non-bakable. you have to cut them open with a dremel and seal them back up afterwards.

^ the led's will burst in the oven. it's not like a regular headlight assembly that can just be baked and pulled apart with the bulbs out of it. you put led's thru that kind of heat and you're bound to have issues.

You can not bake these tails because they are not built like the headlights. You would need to cut them anyways. But good point Foose.

...the leds will not burst. Its that the glue used by the manufacturer is defferent between the heads and tails

it's not glue..

they melted the plastic for the outside to the assembly... plastic welded together pretty much..
