Default oem tail light question

So today i decided to take my girlfriend out to some nice little italian restaurant for dinner, and everything was going pretty good until we finished. When we got out of the restaurant we found that the outer red layer of my passenger side tail light had been smashed in. Thankfully, the lights all still work and there are no other signs of damage to the rest of the car. However, I was wondering how much it would cost to get my tail light replaced and fixed.

Thanks in advance!

Call up the dealer. See if it will be covered under your insurance as well.

I would say go with aftermarket lights, but they're sooo ugly for tC's.

Thanks for the offer gothemi. Tomorrow morning im gonna take it over my dealership to see how much it would cost to have it replaced. If they decide to charge me something ridiculous then i'll probably take you up onn your offer. Also how hard is it to install a tail light and wire all the bulbs into it?

It's not hard at all. Just unplug the harness, unscrew a couple of screws, pop the bumper out of the clips, unscews the nuts holding the tail light in, and pull the light out.

Here's a quick DIY that I made a while ago.

I bet the deductible would cost more than the light really costs.

When you pop the bumper out from the clips do you need to pull the whole bumper or can you just pull out the side that you want to install the light on?

i would say go check on ebay - not as many tC owners sem to go aftermarket, but when they do, the OEMs end up there.

That's because there are no real aftermarket lights yet, to my knowledge. Just cheap Ebay junk.

Just the side that needs to be replaced.
