I live in a co-op/apartment group and the garages are outdoors in two rows of 10, which is why the garage is funny looking. They're not climate controlled or even lit (inside--there are parking lot lights outside) and the only security is a single lock on the gate when shut (sort of funny--there's a manual release from inside so you can't lock someone in).
