Default Oil filler cap fitment problem?

Not sure what forum I should have put this in but anyway...

I bought one of the "JDM" (yes I know no jdm for the tc...) oil filler caps off of ssuperstore.com with the "Scion Tc" logo on it and when I went to go put it on I noticed it wouldn't go down all the way with the engine cover on? Not sure if my engine cover just isn't on all the way or if there is a fitment problem with the cap itself? It goes on a little bit but I don't want to risk damage to my engine if it doesn't seal properly or something like that.

Kind of a n00b question but can anyone give me some insight? I saw the oilfiller cap on someones ride on the post "pics of your engine bay" thread of our cars and they have there engine covers and it fits fine?

it might not be made for our cars... it may have the tC logo on it, but I'm thinking thats what may have happened. Try comparing it to your OEM cap...

It is a little larger than the OEM cap but I noticed in the pics that it fit perfectly into the engine cover of other peoples cars? It threads in just fine..just the diamater of the cap is a little larger..I'll try tightening down my engine cover a little bit later today after school...otherwise I guess I can just widen the hole a little bit..the cap looks so clean to..I guess I got what I paid for

try putting it on without the plastic engine cover, then try fitting the cap through the hole. maybe that would work?

I bought a $60 Greddy cap and it did not fit, the top part you hold to screw in was to big, as was a rip off TRD one off ebay. I have a CF engine cover so I am not sure if it the same size. But I ended up getting the AEM one cause it is smaller than any other

I haven't tried the cap myself, but if you picked up a big rubber o-ring at home depot would that give enough height so the cap can be screwed down snug?
