I talked with Doc the other night, and he still has no plans to make one, and he lost the specs in a fire that he had in his shop a few months ago. :/ I'm currently working on a template myself and will let you all know when I get a prototype up.

Volras- Im also working on a prototype. Ive got a template drawn up. Actually I have a whole front bumper in my room and a large cardboard cut out for the template. Im also thinking about side skirt splitters also im working on. What you plan to use as protoype material?

I'm working on one as well. I'm using 3/16" ABS plastic sheets I think.

still looking for where to buy the sheets of ABS. I'm cutting it with my table saw and a really really fine tooth blade.

Are you going all the way under the car like Doc had his? If so how big of a piece of ABS did you get? And what are you doing to hold it in place?

I'll be making it a bit shorter. more similar to the APR lip. I think Doc's is roughly 68x24 (i remember reading that somewhere a few pages back). Mine will be a little shorter so like 68x18 or 68x19. I need to look underneath in detail to make the exact dimensions. Not sure when I'm gonna use to hold it in play yet.

edit: tap plastics didn't have anything bigger than 12x24 on their website for ABS Sheets in 1/4"

What about the two rods that connect the abs to the front bumper?

you can order them through apr or companies that make them specificly for splitters but most are expensive like 80 a set or up to that.

McMaster Carr PN 3082T31

Closed-Body Stainless Steel Turnbuckle Jaw & Jaw, 3/16"-32 Thrd, 2.5" Takeup, 6-3/8"- 8-7/8"

$20.97 Each

You'll need to fab up some of the attachment hardware, but they're full stainless, and take it from me, who has installed both the McMaster rods and a set of APR-- the quality on the McMaster SS rods is 10x better than APRs.

You can get all of the stainless hardware you'll need from McMaster. You'll need longer bolts for the hoop in the center of the car, mounted to the frame (it will get in the way of the splitter otherwise)-- I can't recall the exact size, but I'm sure I can find it somewhere.

resurrection of an old topic!

doc, i've sent ya a couple pm's, hope that maybe you'll get some time to get these into production? looks like you'd have quite the following

anyone else on here fabbed up anything good?

i had a customer of mine the other day with a supra that had fabbed his own splitter and it looked pretty nice (a bit jagged around the edges, but a slick look nontheless) he gave me the addy and phone number of a place here in salt lake where he picked up his abs, cost him $170!

not bad, but a pre-fab might be worth the price.

doc? anyone? thanks!
