Default paint color differences?

this might be nothing but you know how if you wanted to order the scion underbody kits from sparks or mcgeorges they dont have nautical blue (which is what i have), just the older i.i.p.? ive heard these colors are really similer, and that got me thinking, ive always thought my pedestal spoiler was slightly different, maybe a hue darker? what are the possibilities that the dealership put on the i.i.p. spoiler and not the n.b. spoiler?

was the spoiler installed as a dealer option?

if a color sits long enough and isnt taken care of, the color will dull slightly.

maybe its the finish on the spoiler?

Toyota doesnt see colors through color, they use codes to paint their parts.

yes it was a dealer, and i waxed it the day i got it, its been taken care of well for the 3 months ive had it, but it just doesnt look the same.. ive got a good eye its slightly duller, and darker, and isnt as reflective. but you wouldnt notice unless you were looking straight at it... im thinking maybe they only had the iip in stock, and thought i wouldnt notice? hmmmmm....

o yea, i almost forgot...

nautical blue is much, much darker than the IIP. and it doesn't have that pearl color... the nautical blue is a mica.

you would know if you got the wrong spoiler. i would say the slight difference in the color you may be seeing is from either the paint already fading away slightly, not fully cured... etc... just a few variances.... it should even out though.

also.... it maybe because you waxed your car when you first got it and the paint wasn't fully cured yet.... it's a better idea to wait a while before you first wax your car. btw, the nautical blue should be a dark, dull color like how you explained the spoiler.

factory paint is baked on at the factory. it's perfectly fine to wax it the day you get it. the baking process cures the paint before it even leaves the factory.
