Paint Idea / Price

Paint Idea / Price
I've had this idea for several months, and I'm looking for some feedback on it. When I get the money, I'm planning on getting a black paint job with a red metallic flake, and possibly some red pinstriping. I would photoshop it if I had photoshop or knew how to use it, but, as of now, I'm just trying to get a rough guess as to how much it would cost. So, what do y'all think?

Yeah, that's why I'm not flipping ____ about the price or anything. And it's also why I'm not doing paint just yet. I'm thinking turbo, first. Maybe a manual transmission swap, too.

hey all. got my car back (finally) took them 2 tries to do it how i wanted but it's done. it was around $2500 w/ my back window tinted and it's a really good job. just thought i'd let you know that it wasn't that expensive for a good paint job.

^^that still sounds like alot dude! a decent price would be around 1800 and thats topping it off, mine was done for about 1200 maybe less and even then the person that does paint jobs there for customer charges 1500 topps for a custom job (depends how custom) and includes jams check my pic thread out

I'm not doubting their work at all. I repainted my friends (Tom, I was at his house when you came over) stock WRX wheels gold a few months back. We spent hours upon hours doing the prep work, painting, etc and to this day, they're still in perfect shape, no rock chips or anything...and it only cost him around $100 in materials (paint, clear, primer, sand paper, etc).

And prep costs money. I'm in an auto body class right now, the prep work and sealer are the most vital things in a paint job, and they're the reasons why so many paint jobs go south after a short period of time. And of course doing it yourself is going to save a huge amount, you're not paying for any labor. But if a shop is only charging you $2,000 for a full respray and you're not getting a 'deal,' you can expect that paint to start cracking very quickly.
