Default Paint prob .... AGAIN!!!

My freind was getting out of the tC while he was holding a soda or some beverage. As he got out his stupid a$s dropped the drink on the ground and most of it got on the rear fender of the tc. I did not think too much of it. I go home a couple hours later, and notice hundreds of little bumps where the drink had spilled on to. I tried scratching some off with my finger nail. No good. Please!!! what should I do??? Im freaking out!!!

By the way, this is my third problem with the crappy scion paint. I am ____ed off and have had enough of this crap.

by the way most soda eats battery acid. common sense would tell you to spray it off. its highly acidic. thats why heavy soda drinkers are highly prone to ulcers. see if you can find a paint matcher and have him try to paint match the section. thats your best bet.

Im not paying 3 grand for a decent paintjob, and he didnt do it on purpose, so why should I make him pay.

Im thinking about selling it to carmax, instead of trading it in at the dealership. Would this be a wise choice? has anyone sold a car to carmax before?

First it wouldnt cost 3 grand unless your getting the whole car painted. It would only cost like $400-500 to repaint a panel. Go ask a body shop maybe they can fix it without paint or at least without repainting the whole panel

^ f*ck it. Im not spending anymore money to get this shiit removed. I have already spent a couple hundred at the body shop for tons of scratches on the car. Im getting rid of the tc. I cannot live with the craptacular scion clear-coat.

What I would like to know however, is if it would be a good Idea to sell it to carmax instead of trading it in at the dealership. Has anyone ever done it before?

car max and the dealerships black book price are pretty close to the same. keep in mind car max is a dealership themselves. Carmax will try to short change you more since you will not necessarily be buying a car from them. If you want to make the most money, sell privately. as far as paying hundreds for scratch touchup, you need to find a new source. Good scratch fillers will usually work with you. Try talking to the guy who the car dealerships pay to do their touchups. They dont do that work themselves. Im **** about my paint, and i have a guy locally that has fixed numberous scratchs i have had, and i think my total has been like 70 dollars. and were talking upwards of 3 hours of work. gotta find the right connection. but dont sell your car over spilled milk, thats pointless. take better car of your car and keep a fresh wax on it. its not an offroad car, so do drive through dirt streets (unless you have to). and if you see bird poop, wash it off. it will definitely damage your paint. hopefully this has been usefull to you .

If you run into another car and you didn't do it on purpose, you still have to pay. Your friend may not like it, but it is his fault it is screwed up. It will teach him to be more careful around your car.

My tC is garage kept and I am noticing paint coming off my A pillars. I haven't hit anything, and the only thing I can think of is the car wash at Delta Sonic

Toyota should do a recall on the paint job. <-- I know it will never happen.

My paint shouldn't be coming off in an attempt to keep the car clean.

HAHA, so now we are being compared to neons. but seriously, they could have made the car a little more expensive, just use a good clear. i wouldnt mind paying like 500 more for good paint rite?

wow, it's very disappointing to hear repeatedly how crappy the paint job on the tCs are. i just bought mine less than a month ago. it's definitly not good news i'm hearing. and the common rattle problems don't make it any better. i didn't realize how big of an issue this paint was. i haven't had any scratches on my car yet, but it's still brand spanken new. i'd hate to see it looking like crap already after just a couple of years. damn, and some ppl are getting it repainted and this car has only been out since 04! i'm afraid to even wash and wax my car now after hearing all this stuff about the paint.

^^ well congrats on your new tC. I have an 2005 and I dont have any rattles in my car what so ever but maybe you should get yours checked out. What color did you buy? I have the FM and yes its a pain in the ___ to keep clean cause you see every thing. But hey if I bought a different car in a dark color I would still see everything. I do wax my car almost after every single car wash and thats alot because of the water spots. If it sits to long it spots right up but the wax makes it oh so pretty again.

it's not a good idea to wax out water spots. you'll just end up rubbing dirt into the paint.

I'm skeptical, I highly doubt soda did that to your paint, let alone in a matter of hours. I've had tar, bird droppings, gasoline, ice cream and none have damaged my paint in any visible way.

actually, when i sold my Si to CarMax 2 years ago, they offered me a little over 3 grand more than the dealer had offered. It's worth your time just to go in, have your car inspected, and have them make you an offer- it's free and good for several days. Would be worth it!

Also, you should see the front of my car.. holy crap.. it's starting to look like my car is painted in "Sheetmetal grey" there are so many chips/scratches/imperfections. it's very disappointing.

BTW FreeFlowing; if you need any help with aiding your dealer's complains to Scion about their paint, let me know. I went to arbitration with them last year, and have several highly documented threads on this sub-par paint on these boards.
