Default Painting the engine cover

I was wondering if anyone has painted their vavle cover. I was thinking of painting mine to match my tc (which is Absolutely Red). Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use or would it be better to go to a shop and have it done professionally. I want it to look good, but i dont feel like spending buttloads to do it.

Nice, that looks pretty tight. Did you have to take the strut bar off to get to it?. And also, any recomendations on a brand of paint?

I did it on my xB...looks pretty good...just a couple coats of some High temp, Hi gloss blue to match the box and the silicone sleeves for the intercooler...the only problem is that it didint stick too well and if you arent careful it will chip.

I painted the block head cover...not the actual VVT-i cover.

That's just the engine cover... not the valve cover.

Now THIS is a painted valve cover: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59876

I finally figured out what color I'll use if I do decide to paint my valve cover....cover.
Black Crinkle finish! It will make it look much less plasticky. I'll just mask over the sivler letters and keep them as is.

Looks pretty good torch. I might have taped off the letters... what color are they normally on an xB?

SciontcLuva, that looks real nice. Did you use an high temp engine paint for it or just some regular spraypaint??? They actually all look real sick. Nice job people. If you wouldnt mind posting what you used (engine enamal, spraypaint, watever) I need some ideas on what to use. I will most likely be painting the plastic VVT-i cover.

Thanks all. I just cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. Used krylon's FUSION

A few coats then, paint markered the VVTI symbol and a few coats of clear coat POW. Real easy and cheaq way to make the engine bay look good. GL
