you mean the heat sheild? it just unbolts. i think duplicolor high heat engine paint should work well. like 1000F or more to be safe

It's easy.. go to autozone and get the high temp 1300-2000 degrees temp (just to be safe) paint.. its got 3 or 4 bolts.. the difficult part is taking it off without removing the o2 sensor.. be careful and it'll pop off..

500º paint is plenty. The ultra-high temp stuff has to be baked, and the cover won't get hot enough to cure the paint. Eventually, the paint will get sooty and rub off. I painted the cover in my tC in August of '05, Duplicolor 500º Engine Paint, Low-Gloss Black.

Remove the 3 bolts and one nut holding on the cover.
To make things easy on yourself, use pliers or vise grips to remove the stud that the nut was on. It comes off fairly easily.
Unplug the O2 where it clips into the gray plug at the front upper righthand corner of the motor.
Slide the cover up the wire and off.
Paint it.
Put it back on, admire your work.

You don't. Unclip it from the gray harness plug, and slide the cover down the wire. Eight times out of ten, if you try to remove the O2 sensor, you'll damage it.
