Default painting headlight housing / side markers, how???

so i know you can paint / black out / clear some stuff in your headlight casing. ive seen it in a bunch of threads, but none really say exactly how. yea you have to back and open, but then what after? what paint do you use? can you clear out the orange side marker (not turn signal bulb) so that its clear, or can you then paint it and if so, with what paint?

someone help! i really want to either clear out or black out my orange side markers in the front headlights. thanks!!!

use duplicolor flat black
thats what i would use i guess
just take out parts, and spray paint it
for corner, i am not sure how u would make your stock orange clear but u can try find clear corner if someone is selling it or just spray paint it black like as u would do for housing

you cant just make the orange sidemarker clear. you have to make a new one.

and i'll be using glossy black paint for mine when i redo them.

yea you definitely have to prep it by sanding and I would drop down a primer coat too.. id primer, paint, clear and polish but thats just me.. Gloss black would probably look better than the stock flat black color.. If anyone is too afraid to do this stuff themselves then let me know..

I didn't use a primer on mine, just sanded all of teh chrome off of the eyebrow area and sanded the sidemarker (making sure to get rid of the raised 'l' and 'r'). Cleaned 'em real well and sprayed.
For the eyebrow it was a few light coats of glossy black engine paint (IIRC, it was Duplicolor) and then a slightly heavier one.
The side marker was sprayed with about five light coats of tint spray, allowed to dry then masked off a bit and sprayed with four coats of the same paint used on the eyebrow.
I didn't add a clear coat because the paint was already glossy and figured that it'd be safe inside the housing and therefor didn't need it.

As Neothin said, you'll have to make a new sidemarker if you want it to be clear.

hey I have a SW and would like to paint my headlight housing white - do you guys know what paint I'd need to get to match the body of the car? I have a little touch-up pen for nicks and stuff, but I'm not sure if just getting white spray paint from home depot would match the white of the body.
