I still got a lot of duplicolor caliper paint left...can I just paint the cover with that and it will look glossy like the calipers?

This comes around again to whether people are talking about the engine cover, which is a molded piece of plastic, or the valve cover, which is a piece of cast aluminum.

For the plastic piece, use whatever paint you like.
For the aluminum piece, some type of heat-resistant paint is recommended.

There are gloss hi-temp clearcoats. You can always get the gloss that way.

If you're talking about the Engine Cover; use Dulpi-Color High Temp paint. You don't really need to prep other than cleaning the engine cover really good with a mineral solution or rubbing alcohol. Paint 3-4 EVEN coats and let them dry thoroughly. After they dry, use 3-4 coats of clear and wahlah!!

Purdy Engine Cover! Painted mine 4 months ago. No problems yet.
