Sorry I don't have a more recent straight front on pic...this one is pretty recent...just not straight on....but here's a recent one slightly from the side.

This might be a dumb question - but I am currently working on painting parts in my engine bay and was wondering (since I haven't seen this done) if there is any reason NOT to paint the top of the stock air box. I want to eventually change that out for a CAI, but for now, want to improve the look of the black. I don't see any reason not to do this, but am not sure if it will affect the filtering at all if I just paint over the top half of the box.

Thanks in advance!

hmm that's a good one. I never seen any1 do this but I don't think it should be bad at all, people paint there fuse cover all the time aswell as valve cover header heatshield etc. try it out, and eventually jus get a new intake

yeah I've painted the things you mentioned already plus some more - but this would really add a big piece of color. I have never seen anyone do it either - which makes me a bit nervous to do it jic.

Thanks for the input tho!

it is doable but man the amount of prep to get the paint to stick to all that plastic would most likely be why no one does it.

I feel like its about the same amount of prep as the engine cover or some of the other plastic stuff in there. Maybe a little more effort to clean - not really concerned about that but I appreciate you looking out for me haha

I may give this a shot on Tuesday and see how it goes. I just don't want to affect the air flow - I don't see how this would though.

Well it will be hard to sand all those tight corners, so if you miss a spot it might chip off, but if you take your time it should turn out fine. Also it will not affect the air flow at all unless you spray it inside the air box and get it on the filters.
