You are not alone in that sentiment...

They look OK on BSP and FM and maybe SCM... but look like crap on just about anything else. Though that upper overlay on the previous page helps them out a little bit by getting rid of some of the "flashy" parts.

those are some nice tailights going on there, but how dark does it have to be to make it illegal?

Get what in the near future? And there is no limit on how dark your tailights can be...it just depends on the light output that is still visible. Im sure there a certain/technical amount of light output that your tails need to give off to be legal. In the day light Ive been told that you can still see when I hit the brakes and at night is not a problem at all....

Here in WA it is illegal to have tail light covers, spray, or any type of film on the outside of any lights. I think it also says that in the U.S. Highway safety laws. If you live in a big city, I'm sure the cops aren't too worried about it unless you drive around like an a$$.

In Virginia the concern is the visibility of the tail lights and brake lights of a distance of 500 feet on a clear day. Tint would affect that distance and police have the option of using their judgement to issue a ticket. I've never seen anyone actually measure out 500 feet and test the visibility from that distance.

I just had my tail's done by a local shop. I asked them to tint them as dark as possible w/o reducing the light output from the brake lights. They charged my 85 for the TBL and the two tails, and I had my car back in about 5 hours

I'm poor, so I don't have a real camera, so here are some camera phone pics LOL. Never mind the water, I was in the middle of washing it

Left tail, lights off. The clear coat they use is VERY reflective, even more than my paint lol

Right tail

Parking lights on

Pressing the brakes

TBL, Pressing the brakes

Heres a good pic of how dark they are

Hope you guys like them

Those look really good. Did they tint with actual tint material or vinyl? Or was it a spray?

They used a spray, and a very high gloss clear coat

I would love either one of those TBL, but I don't think its worth paying over $100 for a brake light
