Default price to replace front windshield?

the dealer gave me a quote of ~$1000 to get it replaced with a factory windshield and ~$500 for a non-factory tc windshield...

how much do you guys think it should be if i looked elsewhere ?

MUCH Cheaper....

Glass shops are super competitive... call all the glass repair shops in the area and compare prices... most will beat competitors prices for you as well...

we havnt done on at my shop yet but I checked the price and an aftermarket one would be $527 installed. and the dealer is right about a factory shield... the list price for just the glass is $886. any aftermarket shield will be fine since the tC is still new... the molds for the glass havnt had enough use to warp. hope this helps.

this is just my opinion... but since I manage a glass shop and install auto glass... putting in a used windshield is not a good idea. im sure tha someone might have had luck in the past... but its just not worth the risk. just my .o2$

It was just a thought. Idk how the integrity of the windshield holds up when its taken out and re-installed into another. Most used windshields are out of cars with 4k or less on em. Does that matter?

its not so much the strength of the glass.. its the seal to the car. its much harder to reset a used winshield properly. most of the time the urthane wont seal right due to impurities or residues when the glass was out of the salvage car. that bond needs to be right or the glue will let go altogether. last thing you want is to hit your brakes hard and have your windshield on your hood... you might laugh.. but ive seen it happen. plus you have a much higher risk of it leaking and I dont know about you but I dont want any water in my car if i can help it. most glass shops wont install a used windshield just because of the liability.

^ I agree...

Go with a reputable glass company and it's not that bad.... I paid 260 for my xB's glass.... the tC is probably a bit more, but I just shopped around
