Professional Wetsanding Cost
I have several shallow surface scratches that I'd like eliminated - so I'm thinking of getting it wetsanded by a local body shop. I haven't had the chance to call yet - but I'm wondering if anyone here has gotten this done...and approximately how much a complete car wetsand will run on average?
Thx!

A complete wetsand just to eliminate a few scratches is probably quite unnecessary.
You usually don't need to wetsand unless:
1) You're looking to greatly reduce orange peel in the paint. The amount of clear coat you sacrifice to get some seriously beautiful, orange peel nearly-free paint isn't usually worth it.
2) You just painted the car.
I'd suggest heading over to the forums at www.autopia.org
Go to the regional forums for wherever you live, and ask if any detailers would be willing to take a look at your car. Chances are wetsanding will not be necessary at all. You'd be surprised what a skilled detalier who knows his/her stuff can really do for a vehicle, even a neglected one.

Thanks guys - I guess wetsanding is overkill! I just figured I'd get a factory new look this way, but yes I'd be sufficing part of the clear coat which is a big negative.
Thanks for the link - I'll locate a detailer and let you know how it turns out...I'm sure it will look just as good and cost quite a bit less!

scions have the thinnest factory paint i have seen in my 20 years as a automotive painter. i would not recommend that anyone try and wetsand their factory paint. if wetsanding is a must, dont use anything corser than 3000 grit and stay away from edges and body lines.

Glad I posted here before I went through with this!
