Default Question about marks on paint

I have this haziness on the paint only on the hood. Its not actual flaking paint, but in the sunlight it has that whitish appearance. In the shade its barely noticeable. The entire hood is still smooth, but these marks arent going away, even after waxing. I know the hood was repainted at some point before I took ownership of the car. Is this due to an inferior job and this is now the beginning stage of paint fading?

Looks like an inferior job or they didn't wait long enough for the paint, especially the clearcoat, to fully cure before the first car wash. After a fresh paint job. It is advised not to wash the car for a couple weeks or longer. The previous owner probably washed the car to soon and the dirt got embedded in the paint.

Only thing I can suggest now is to try a clay bar. They are usually at any major auto parts chain store. If you do try it. Follow the directions carefully. If that doesn't work. Probably will need a good re-paint.

Good luck.

I would try a polish which is less aggressive than a rubbing compound.
